ACFW with its 1300 members has come a long way since the original founding members dreamed and planned about an online writers’ organization that would minister, encourage, teach, and support each other.

Back then it was ACRW - American Christian Romance Writers.

I have to laugh each time I hear how many members are being added to the group. You see, my membership number is 1! Ah, now I hear your laughs. My job was secretary/treasurer, and that involved membership. Our founding board members were Lynn Coleman, Andrea Boeshaar, Gail Martin, Brandilyn Collins, Tracie Peterson, and myself.

Watching the planning of all the exciting conferences, scrolling through the archived workshops, the reading groups, critique groups, learning about all those who have published, and all the other wonderful benefits of belonging to ACFW is like watching a baby grow into an adult and feeling tremendously proud of that person’s accomplishments.

If you are searching for a conference that will deepen your spiritual walk while providing you with tools to learn the craft of fiction writing, then I urge you to register now for the 2007 American Christian Fiction Writer’s Conference in Dallas, Texas. Meeting new people and networking with online and face-to-face friends, editors, and agents will be the highlight of your year. Take the word of membership #1 :), the continuing sessions and individual workshops will be taught by those who have done the work.

See you in September!
